W.B. Hopke Awarded Wet Utilities Work for Converge, Hitt Contracting’s New Corporate Offices in West Falls Church, VA

W.B. Hopke is proud to announce a new project award for wet utilities at Converge, Hitt Contracting’s new corporate office and mixed-use residential building located in West Falls Church, VA. Hitt Contracting is both the general contractor and the client. The project is split into two parts. Half the project will be Hitt’s unique, six-story, 270,000-square-foot corporate office that will focus on sustainability, research and development, education and partnerships. The other half parcel of land will include residential development for a 13 story, luxury apartment building with 438 residential units and more than 17,500 square feet of retail space. The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2027.

The project, awarded to Hopke in January 2025, has already begun with the majority of work scheduled to take place during the summer/fall timeframe 2025. Hopke’s roles will be to install all water, sanitary and storm drainage for this project. The project will require traffic control with Haycock Road for the sanitary and water mains. The sanitary will include a new outfall system from the site out to Haycock Road. The storm will require 350 foot of RCP ranging in diameter between 12″ and 30″ of CL3 RCP. There will be several manholes, as well as the installation of Perkfilter Vaults which treat stormwater and are designed to remove pollutants from the runoff before it enters the waterways. It will also include Oldcastle Stormcapture Detention Systems which are precast storage systems used for stormwater management. The water will include about 400 linear feet of combined of 4″, 6″ and 8″ DIP.

Project estimator, Dillon McCoy said, “The project is located at Mustang Alley which is a tight site requiring traffic control during the installation of the mains. There will be deep cuts required in certain areas, and the storm detention vaults are close to the road. This will be quite challenging given the proximity of the road to the proposed building.”
