The replacement of Alexandria Fire Station #203, a current Hopke project, is currently underway in the Beverly Hills neighborhood of the City of Alexandria. The new fire station will be a 15,000 square feet, two-story structure with two and a half operational bays to house an engine, a medic, administrative units, and all required personnel; as well as having the capacity for special service units. To facilitate ongoing fire and rescue operations, Hopke installed the utilities to a new temporary fire station on the corner of the site. Once the temporary station was functional, the existing fire station was demolished. Alexandria’s Fire Department recently posted a time lapse video of the demolition of the old station. Hopke has a contract with Dustin Construction on the project. Hopke’s scope on this project included all of the wet utility infrastructure including sanitary and water connections, roof drains, a bioretention area, and an underground storm filtration system.
